How many of these factors keep you
from accomplishing your goals?
Indecision
Inefficiency
Interruptions (phone calls, e-mails, etc)
Procrastination
Unrealistic time estimates
Lack of priorities
Doing
too much non-billable work (volunteering)
Unnecessary errors
Use these tips to help with your time management:
Just do it! - Avoiding
a project doesn't make it go away. Delaying it puts you into a panic.
Do it now and breathe a sigh of relief when it is done!
Get into a routine -
Plan your day to make you more efficient. Answer your e-mail and
return phone calls at the time of day when you are more tired or less
creative. Don't use your prime time for these tasks.
Divide large tasks -
Break down a large job into smaller easier to handle portions. You'll
find you're getting more completed and will be less overwhelmed by the
size of the project.
Schedule your time realistically - Plan your day allowing for
interruptions. You are better off scheduling less projects in a day
and actually getting something accomplished than cramming your
schedule full of things you should get done, but never will.
Outsource - You can't be an
expert at everything. Do what you know best and outsource the rest.
Outsourcing pays for itself in the time that you save to do what is
really important for your company...making money.
Prioritize - Figure out
what needs to be completed first and get it done before moving onto
something else. Don't spend time doing things that can wait or can be
done by someone else.
Learn to say NO! - It's
great to help others but every time you agree to something outside
your own work - something else won't get done. Don't spread yourself
too thin.
